Here is an example of a herbarium specimen.  The plant is Dracaena tessellata, a small shrub, common name ‘Bois de chandelle,’ with medicinal properties.  This specimen is found in a bound herbarium of the medicinal plants of Mauritius by E. Fleurot, a French government chemist.  It is dated 1865 and is in the image collection of the Wellcome Trust.
